Why Gold-Filled?
Our gold-filled jewellery features a thicker layer of gold than most gold-plated jewellery, making it a better alternative for longevity. It's still affordable, and if looked after well can last a long time. Our pieces are also 100% lead & nickel free so they’re hypoallergenic too and perfect for those with allergies to these metals.
Care Guide
While our gold-filled jewellery can last if you look after it, the reality is is that our jewellery isn't solid gold and can tarnish it so we recommend following the below steps.
Pools, hot tubs & gold-filled jewellery do not mix well. The chemicals used in pools (and the more concentrated chemicals in spas) create a harsh environment for gold-fill, so please remove before jumping in.
We recommend taking jewellery off before heading into the sea as salt water can cause tarnishing over time. If you’re wearing sunscreen (slip slop slap!) make sure to keep it away from your gold-filled pieces (this one is sadly a sucker for tarnishing) and clean it thoroughly with a rinse and a wipe if it does come into contact with SPF.
Our gold-filled jewellery shouldn’t tarnish with everyday sweat for most, however, some people sadly will find their chemistry tarnishes their jewellery faster - but you won’t know til you try it. And if it doesn’t, it’s a match made in heaven! That being said, we will always recommend taking your Studio Valli piece before a sweat session.
Take your pieces off while using household cleaners, before applying beauty products, before showering and before your beauty sleep. These steps will ensure your pieces are shiny & new for a long time to come.
Cleaning
Cleaning your gold-filled jewellery is easy, just gently wipe with a soft cloth (like a lens cloth). If your piece comes into contact with the likes of sunscreen, we recommend rinsing with lukewarm water and gently wiping dry with a soft cloth.
